MARKETING and PROJECTIONS
With all of the many revenue streams available, each one of which needs product to fill its pipeline, it is now possible to "presell" a picture, meaning to sell or license some or all of the rights to the picture before it is even completed.
By combining pre sales with the broad based cult following for the Brian Harper novels, the SHIVER film creates a unique motion picture investment opportunity for a thriller film franchise which has the potential to generate highly significant profits with very little or no downside risk.
While it is possible that SHIVER may recoup its production cost prior to completion,, the production entity will still own ALL of the domestic rights. And, these domestic revenue streams, starting with the US/Canada box office, and revenue streams from television sales and video/DVD sales, are likely to return continuing significant profits as seen with such films as My Big Fat Greek Wedding (37 million ticket sales), and The Blair Witch Project (30 million tickets sold) and the recent Saw, Saw II and Saw III which have generated grosses upwards of $400 million to date.
For several reasons, SHIVER has the potential to be a commercial success. Because of the tremendous need for class genre product in every country in the world, foreign pre sales for SHIVER can be significant. Because it is in the thriller - horror genre, the very nature of SHIVER is likely to make the film one that will be strongly desired by worldwide distributors both overseas and domestically.
Films of this genre, especially those well made, with recognizable names, are highly desirable and have a track record of success. i.e. Seven, Silence Of The Lambs (and its sequels) Saw, Saw II, Hostel are and continue to be worldwide box office phenomena.
SHIVER contains the elements to garner a high probability of achieving significant profits beyond presale revenues.
A motion picture-novelization tie-in is a highly potent marketing tool. A republishing of the SHIVER novel as a film tie-in is planned once production of the film is announced The exposure of the SHIVER film in addition to the millions of pre-existing Brian Harper cult followers can greatly increase the probability of significant box office grosses.
A few other examples of revenues generated by previous, modestly budgeted motion pictures in the horror-thriller genre are:
Nightmare On Elm Street (Series) - In excess of $400 million aggregate for domestic distribution. Each release sold over 100, 000 units in the domestic home video market.
Pet Semetary - Over $50 million in domestic theatrical distribution and over 150,000 units in the domestic home video market.
Hostel - Recent box office hit, debuted with opening domestic weekend gross of $20.1 million.
Saw - Has garnered worldwide: boxoffice revenues of over $103 million to date. Opening domestic weekend: ringing up over $18 million. on a production budget of under $1 million.
Saw II - Has generated domestic boxoffice revenues of over $87 million and overseas revenues of over $35 million to date. Opening domestic weekend: garnered nearly $32 million.
To reach its fullest potential, SHIVER must be financed independently.
There is only one way to have absolute freedom to make the picture, adhere to the producers' vision and to maintain control over all aspects of the production and distribution and avoid studio overhead - that is, to finance the picture independently. The producers believe that the production of SHIVER(anticipated to commence production in early 2008) will result in one of the most exciting and commercially successful films of 2008-09.
